Fans recreat the original Duke Nukem Forever 2001-the first chapter came out

In May 2022, a build was laid out on the network Duke Nukem Forever, which was shown at E3 in 2001. Later, the light saw a completely different game. Now fans collect the original on the basis of a duckling version – it was called DNF Restoration Project. His first chapter “FIRST SLICE” (or “First slice”) can already be downloaded.

As the developers themselves say, at first a small group of enthusiasts worked on the project, but later the team grew to the size of a small studio. People from around the world participate in the work, including experienced models and experts in the field of video games.

The fans managed to restore a significant part of the content shown in trailers Duke Nukem Forever for E3 and other promotional materials. They also wrote a new script to combine everything that is known about the very game. Developers emphasize that they use content only from 2001 and 2002, since "at that time the action was in his prime".

The team introduced the fruit of its labors – the first chapter "First Slice". It combined nine levels, one secret episode, and also added a bonus location for research, multiplayer and cards editor. You can download the game through MOD DB (installation instructions inside).

Recall, Duke Nukem Forever announced back in 1997, and it only released in 2011. For many years of production, several versions of action have created. The final product was met coolly – the rating on different platforms ranges from 50 points on Metacritic.
